MotherLode HQ

Terms Of Service

MotherLode HQ is a marketplace. We introduce skilled people to the businesses and households that need them, and for bookings that go through us, we hold the payment safely until the work is done. These are the terms that make that fair for everyone. By using the site, you’re agreeing to them.

What MotherLode HQ Is

A place where a professional — an accountant, a bookkeeper, a marketer, a designer, whatever their skill actually is — offers their time to businesses and households, without carrying the admin of invoicing and chasing payment themselves. We connect the two sides and, where asked to, handle the money in between.

Who Can Use It

You need to be eighteen or over to hold an account. MotherLode HQ operates in Australian dollars and is built for use within Australia.

If You’re Offering Your Skills

You’re an independent professional using MotherLode HQ to find work, not an employee of MotherLode HQ. You set your own hours, your own rate, and the work you take on. You’re responsible for your own tax obligations, including any ABN and GST requirements that apply to you.

The platform fee is $29 a month, and your first month costs nothing. We take no commission on the work itself — what a client pays you for a booking is yours, in full, less only Stripe’s own processing fee where a booking is held and released through us.

Two Ways A Booking Gets Paid

Every booking on MotherLode HQ is paid one of two ways, and it’s always clear upfront which one applies.

Held & Released Through MotherLode HQ

A client pays through the site. We hold that payment, and the moment the booking is marked done, it releases straight to the professional. This is the way we’d recommend for most bookings — it means nobody’s chasing an invoice, and a client’s payment is protected until the work is actually there.

Arranged Directly

Some bookings — a small local job, a cash arrangement, whatever suits both sides — can be set up so the professional and the client agree on payment themselves, entirely outside MotherLode HQ. Where a booking is arranged this way, MotherLode HQ has no role in that payment, no visibility into it, and no responsibility for it or for resolving anything that goes wrong with it. Our part ends at making the introduction.

If You’re Booking Help

You’re responsible for paying for a booking on the terms shown at the time you make it, and for being honest about what you need done. If a booking is held through MotherLode HQ, your payment is protected until it’s marked done — see our Refund Policy for exactly how that works.

Our Part In All Of This

MotherLode HQ isn’t the employer of any professional on the site, isn’t a party to the agreement a client and a professional make between themselves, and doesn’t guarantee the outcome of any booking. For a held booking, our role is the introduction and the payment mechanism. For a directly arranged booking, our role is the introduction alone.

Using The Site Properly

MotherLode HQ is for real people offering and finding real skills. Don’t use it to mislead the other side about who you are or what you’re offering, and don’t use it for anything unlawful. We can suspend or close an account where this is genuinely broken.

What’s Yours Stays Yours

Your profile, your words, your own work — that’s yours. The MotherLode HQ name, mark and site design are ours.

If These Terms Change

If we genuinely change how any of this works, we’ll update this page and say so plainly, rather than slipping a change through quietly.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
